Your Home Should Work for You

Have you ever walked through your front door after a long day and felt something quietly off? Not broken, not dramatic. Just not quite right.

Most homes are set up to look good. To impress. To check the boxes people think they are supposed to check. But very few homes are actually shaped around the life being lived inside them.

Reimagine how your home can work for you.

I created a step-by-step blueprint to help you create a home that is supportive of you and your family, instead of a hinderance.

This isn't just about moving furniture around or changing the colors of the walls, this is a deep dive into making your own home your dream home, or getting it ready for it to be someone else's dream home.

Whatever your dream for your home is, this is my gift to you.

Hi, I’m Heidi.

As a licensed architect with more than 25 years of experience in residential architecture, I have helped nearly 1,000 families transform frustrating houses into homes that more fully support their lives. But what I have really been doing all these years is helping people understand how they live.

No matter the size of the home or the scope of the project, I kept seeing the same thing: the issue was rarely the space itself. It was how the space was working for the people who lived there.

Over time, I realized that most people do not need a completely new home. They need clarity. They need to understand why something feels off, why certain spaces create frustration, and how small shifts can make a meaningful difference. That realization has shaped the way I approach every project today.

What I have learned through this work is simple: homes shape lives. A home influences how your day flows, how you connect with others, and how you feel in your own space. When your home begins supporting you instead of working against you, everyday life can feel calmer, easier, and more joyful.

I am also an Amazon bestselling contributing author of Wired to Win, a collaborative book featuring Olympian Marion Jones and New York Times bestselling author Suzanne Evans. My newest book, Getting Back Home: Small Shifts for Big Joy, brings together what I have learned about the powerful emotional relationship between people and the places they call home.

That same belief is at the heart of my architecture, my speaking, and my writing: helping people see their homes differently so they can create spaces that feel calm, functional, meaningful, and beautifully aligned with their lives.
